The goal is to collect writings that focus on student's experiences with: Discrimination Hatred Personal Bias Social Segregation Tolerance Acceptance And any other related topics The articles may be any form of written expression: Journal Entries, Poetry, Short Stories, Sheet Music, Lyrics, Drawings or Sketches, etc. Submissions should be unedited, uncensored, REAL creative writings from students at CHS. If the writing is legible, they will be scanned and the original document will be used. Otherwise text may be typed by a project editor. As mentioned above, the compilation may be published as novel. Whether or not this happens will depend on the number and quality of the works submitted. Some of the pieces may also be used as part of the 2010 – 2011 CAVS curriculum to incorporate lessons that focus on the opinions of students at CHS. This may provide students with a realistic viewpoint about intolerance. A goal for the project is to collect writing from students about their own personal biases; writings that express racism, homophobia, and intolerance by the author. This is not to make students look bad, but rather to create awareness that there are students who have those emotions and values. Anonymous works will be accepted, but students are encourages to submit works with their name so that they may be recognized. Students who submit their work with their name will be required to get guardian permission (signature) to have their work published. Students who are eighteen (18) years of age will not require guardian's permission. Students may submit work one of three ways: Giving it to their language instructor Submitting it via GSA Drop Box Or emailing it to one of the editors listed below. Not all works will be accepted for use in the compilation. Each submission will be read by one of the editors and the authors of accepted works will be notified by a letter which will be given to their language instructor. Although, all works will be kept for possible future use at CHS. ORIGINAL SUBMISSIONS WILL NOT BE RETURNED TO STUDENTS – MAKE A COPY!
